Melanie started working for BASE as an intern while pursuing her degree at UH Manoa. She wears two hats in our Honolulu office – serving as both a structural designer and special inspector, supporting our engineering team with structural analysis and design, while also conducting site visits, collecting material samples, and performing testing as part of our Testing & Inspection division. Additionally, Melanie will continue to run BASE’s testing lab by being the main technician that tests concrete specimens.

When she’s not busy at BASE, Melanie enjoys reading, especially fantasy and action and adventure novels. One of her favorite books is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. She also likes to paint landscapes and solve puzzles. Melanie is someone who’s a rarity nowadays – she knows how to drive a manual transmission.
