We’re pleased to announce our membership in SE 2050, a commitment to substantive reductions of embodied carbon in structural systems. As a proponent of only using the necessary materials and EOR of Hawaii’s first high-rise (Hale Kalele) to incorporate CarbonCure, a technology that consists of injecting trapped carbon dioxide into concrete mixes, this marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to prioritize and promote sustainable structural solutions.

With sustained winds of 140 mph, Typhoon Mawar made landfall in Guam on May 24. Fortunately, modern structures in Guam are designed for 195 mph winds so most completed structure saw minimal damage. No damage has been uncovered thus far on any completed structure designed by BASE. Most observed damage to structural elements involved reinforcing steel bars and installed formwork that were awaiting concrete placement.
